Nhos Historia Our History of the Conta di Odjo

Nhos História

Conta di Odjo are known as the “Evil Eye” beads from West African country the Cape Verdean Islands.

Traditionally Cape Verdeans wear the bead daily to protect them from the “evil eye”, jealousy, and ill will. Wearing it daily ensures there are no harmful effects of the wandering “evil eye” and promote good luck. They are also worn as a symbolic cultural statement piece representing the Islands heritage.

Cabo Verde, the official name of the country, gained its independence from Portugual on July 5, 1975. Honor these courageous ancestors by representing the culture and wearing these charms as a daily reminder for their fight to freedom.
